The Role
CenturyLink Investment Management (CIM), CIM is the investment fiduciary for Lumen Technologies' employee benefit assets, overseeing approximately $12 billion across $4 billion in pension assets and $8 billion in 401(k) assets. We are currently seeking a Senior Investment Analyst to play a key role in shaping investment strategy, asset allocation, and research for Lumen's pension plan and 401(k) savings plan. This role offers broad exposure across portfolio construction, glide path design, external manager due diligence, and capital markets research within a lean, hands-on investment organization.
Work Location
The position is hybrid, with a work model that is primarily remote and generally requires one day per week in the Denver office.
The Main Responsibilities
  • Help shape investment strategy and asset allocation for the defined benefit pension plan and 401(k) target date funds.
  • Analyze capital markets and asset class behavior to inform portfolio construction decisions.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative market research, leveraging artificial intelligence, to generate market insights in support of investment decisions.
  • Assess portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and risk characteristics across strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices in defined contribution investing and retirement solutions and conduct in-depth research on relevant topics.
  • Partner with the team to research and evaluate external investment managers across public and private asset classes.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external partners on investment initiatives and special projects.

What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • 3-10 years of investment experience in institutional investing, asset management, or investment consulting.
  • CFA designation or interest in obtaining.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in investing and financial markets.
  • Attention to detail combined with the ability to think holistically about portfolios.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Familiarity with AI and eagerness to integrate it into the investment process.
  • Proficiency with investment analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar, eVestment).

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
