Service Center (Terminal) Manager – LTL Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Center (Terminal) Manager with a proven background in Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) transportation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success managing daily terminal operations, leading teams, and driving service, safety, and operational performance in an LTL environment.

Candidates without direct LTL operations experience will not be considered.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of daily LTL terminal operations, including dock, pickup and delivery (P&D), and linehaul activities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, drivers, dock associates, dispatchers, and office personnel.
  • Ensure on-time service, freight integrity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including service levels, claims, productivity, safety, and cost control.
  • Oversee labor planning, staffing, scheduling, and employee performance.
  • Maintain compliance with DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with regional leadership and other service centers to optimize network performance.
  • Manage terminal budgets and operational expenses while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in LTL transportation operations.
  • Previous experience as a Service Center Manager, Terminal Manager, Operations Manager, Assistant Terminal Manager, or equivalent leadership role within an LTL carrier.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • LTL freight operations
    • Pickup & Delivery (P&D)
    • Linehaul operations
    • Cross-dock operations
    • Freight handling and claims
    • Routing and dispatch
    • Safety and regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to lead large operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), Microsoft Office, and operational reporting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Experience managing multiple shifts and high-volume service centers.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational KPIs, employee engagement, and customer service metrics.

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation package with two options:

  • Option 1: Starting base salary of $105,000 annually, plus a company vehicle provided as part of the compensation package.
  • Option 2: Starting base salary of $110,000 annually if the candidate declines the company vehicle. In this option, approved business mileage will be reimbursed at $0.655 per mile, documented through MileIQ and submitted on a weekly basis.

Direct LTL operations experience is required. Candidates with only truckload (TL), brokerage, warehouse, or general logistics experience will not be considered.
