The Impact You'll Have:

We are seeking a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) to join our Jacksonville, FL office. The successful candidate will possess the ability to analyze problems, envision solutions and develop deliverables using state of the art technology in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. The LSIT will work closely with our Project Manager on all projects. The LSIT will have the responsibility for technical performance on projects and/or designated tasks. Work requires application of standard surveying techniques and procedures, professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex survey/geomatic calculations and analysis of survey data for preparing survey maps, plats and right of way mapping
  • Compile and research existing data for projects as needed to efficiently complete survey requirements
  • Coordinate and assist in preparing project estimates and schedules
  • Analyze deeds, title reports and other research materials for the production of survey maps and reports
  • Effective coordination and communication with other team members
  • Write and review legal descriptions
  • Oversee surveys to establish and map boundaries for properties, topographic studies, construction features, etc. This includes maps, reports, legal descriptions and more
  • Search legal records, survey records, plans, specifications, land titles, etc. to obtain information about property boundaries and other items of interest specific to the tasks being surveyed
  • Complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ensure QC process has been completed prior to survey products advancing to the PSM for final delivery.
  • Responsible for technical performance on small projects and/or designated tasks on large projects
  • Guide, mentor and direct survey analysts and technicians in the completion of their assignments
  • Review field notes, daily records and data results received from survey staff


Qualifications:

  • The ability to obtain registration as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in the State of Florida, in accordance with Chapter 472, Florida Statutes within six (6) months of hire.
  • Minimum of 10 years overall experience
  • Thorough knowledge of land surveying principles and practices
  • Experience with any of the following: MicroStation, Geo-Pak, FDOT SS4, Carlson Survey, Pix4D Mapper, Trimble Business Center or Civil 3D CADD software
  • Successful history of project/task management on FDOT or Public Works Projects as well as Site Development and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys
  • Proven experience providing excellent customer service and meeting project schedules
  • Minimum 3 years of CAD experience
  • Proficient with field equipment and standard field procedures
  • Capacity to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities
  • Substantial oral and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years FDOT Location Surveying and right of way mapping processes and standards
  • Post-secondary training in CAD programs
  • General experience working directly with clients and managing projects
