Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) 

 Position Summary  

Join Cranston Engineering, an HFW partner firm, as a Survey Technician / Land Surveyor-in-Training (LSIT) and contribute to a range of commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. You will produce accurate survey mapping and exhibits, process field data, and interpret deeds, plats, and title information to support engineering and design efforts. Using tools such as Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and LiDAR technologies, you will help ensure precise, high-quality deliverables while gaining experience and growth opportunities on the path to licensure.

Essential Responsibilities:   

  • Prepare accurate survey maps, exhibits, and supporting documentation for field crews in accordance with project scope, specifications, and client requirements. 
  • Review, interpret, and analyze survey-related documents, including deeds, plats, title commitments, and easement information, to ensure accuracy and reliability of survey data. 
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with survey staff, project managers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency throughout all phases of projects. 
  • Apply survey line coding standards to support efficient drafting workflows and accurate data representation. 
  • Utilize Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center software to process field data, perform drafting tasks, and support survey data analysis (experience with these platforms preferred). 
  • Integrate and apply data collected from aerial and terrestrial LiDAR systems to enhance survey accuracy, efficiency, and overall project deliverables (familiarity with LiDAR technologies preferred). 

Qualifications:   

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with AutoCAD in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry preferred, or 1 year of land surveying field experience preferred.
