We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Lead Topographic Surveyor to join our growing Geomatics team and support our innovative approach to delivering excellence to our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled surveyor who enjoys technical problemsolving, working across varied project environments, and supporting others in their professional development.

Location: This role can be based from Bicester, Nailsworth, Derby or Crewe.

As Lead Topographic Surveyor, you will:

  • Manage a wide range of Land Surveying projects, taking responsibility for delivery standards, client communication, and technical quality.

  • Travel to sites nationwide to undertake Land Surveying services, to capture geospatial data utilising GNSS Receivers, Robotic Total Stations, Laser Scanners, Drone/UAVs, Electromagnetic Location and/or Ground Penetrating Radar equipment.

  • Produce accurate geospatial deliverables to support fastpaced projects across multiple sectors, on time and within budget to maintain company standards.

  • Work collaboratively with the Land Surveying and Geomatics team to gather, analyse, and interpret data from sources such as the Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, Environment Agency, local authorities and utility providers.

  • Provide informed time and cost estimates for survey tasks and advise clients and colleagues accordingly.

  • Oversee Land Surveying equipment maintenance, calibration, and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

  • Support and mentor junior staff, contributing to their development and performance reviews.

  • Play an active role in team development, suggesting improvements and supporting new ways of working.

  • Be commercially aware, maintain accurate project records to provide regular client updates, promote commercial awareness, and support timely and precise billing.

Key Skills and experience:

  • Strong technical experience with Land Surveying equipment and workflows, e.g. GNSS Receivers, Robotic Total Stations, Laser Scanners, Drone/UAVs, Electromagnetic Location and/or Ground Penetrating Radar equipment.

  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage, interpret and work with large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Competent user of Microsoft Office.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the country.

Desirable:

  • Professional qualification (RICS, CICES or TSA) or working towards accreditation.

  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues.

  • Strong commercial awareness and experience contributing to tenders or fee proposals.
