Overview

We're a small, family-owned civil engineering and surveying firm. We're straightforward, down-to-earth people who focus on getting the job done right—and having a good time doing it.

The Job

You'll gather elevations and point data to produce topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and exhibits used for design and construction. Job sites are typically located in Malibu and throughout Los Angeles, primarily on hillside properties. Expect plenty of hiking on steep, rugged terrain and lots of sunshine. If you enjoy outdoor, hands-on work, this can be a very rewarding career.

What We're Looking For

Duties

  • Conduct land surveys using GPS, total stations, and other surveying equipment to collect accurate spatial data
  • Perform topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, construction staking, and schematic mapping
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to analyze survey data and generate maps, exhibits, and reports
  • Apply trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and basic math to calculate distances, angles, elevations, and coordinates
  • Manage field data collection using Trimble and other survey hardware to ensure accurate transfer and storage
  • Support construction teams by providing precise staking and verifying field conditions against project plans
  • Prepare survey exhibits, sketches, and documentation that meet client and agency requirements.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and contractors to interpret project requirements and deliver usable survey data

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in land surveying
  • Proficiency with GPS equipment, total stations, and data collectors
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred
  • General construction knowledge
  • Working knowledge of topographic mapping, construction layout, and boundary surveys
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply geometric concepts accurately
  • Experience with Trimble equipment and GNSS systems preferred
  • Familiarity with ALTA/NSPS standards is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
