Job Status: Full-time, non-exempt

THE ROLE

As an entry-level survey technician, you will thrive under the guidance of a Professional Land Surveyor, engaging and supporting a variety of engineering and boundary survey projects.

These responsibilities include:

  • Perform fieldwork survey to collect data for engineering design surveys, accurately mapping the contours and features of the land.
  • Perform construction boundary staking for development and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Assist in conducting boundary surveys to determine property and right-of-way boundaries.
  • Process and analyze survey data using Trimble Business Center software to create maps and reports.
  • Remote Sensing: Assist remoting sensing tools such as small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) and terrestrial 3D laser scanning operations to capture high-resolution spatial data.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and utilize survey equipment such as, Trimble GNSS, robotic total station, and digital leveling equipment.

YOUR STRENGTHS
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in land surveying or geomatics or current enrollment in an accredited program in these fields
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering that includes a survey certificate or equivalent, meeting the requirements to take the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying exam
  • 0-3+ years experience with land survey projects
  • Land Surveyor Intern (LSI) licensure or willing to obtain soon after hire
  • Exposure to AutoCAD or Civil 3D
  • Familiarity with Trimble survey systems, data processing software, drone mapping, and 3D laser scanning
  • Understanding of Practical Drafting or GIS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
  • Ability to work outdoors in various and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry survey equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional travel required to remote locations
