Position at Hood Plywood
Do you have experience working with different types of boilers? Do you enjoy working in a manufacturing environment? Do you enjoy working with a team of professionals? If so, then our Boiler Operator position at our plywood mill in Beaumont Mississippi is right for you.
Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.
Boiler operators are responsible for maintaining and operation of wood fire boiler for plywood drying production. They handle equipment such as low-pressure boilers, high-pressure boilers, power boilers, steam boilers, and hot water heating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Observes pressure, temperature, steam flows and draft meters on panel to verify specified operation of automatic combustion control systems, feed water regulators, stoker, and furnace combustion.
โ€ข Adjusts controls to set specified fuel feed, draft openings, water level, and steam pressure of boiler.
โ€ข Observes boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and can analyze and trouble shoot mechanical repairs needs.
โ€ข May test and treat boiler feed water, using specified chemicals.
โ€ข May maintain log of meter and gauge readings and record data, such as water test results and quantity of fuel consumed.
โ€ข Operate loader for wood waste storage or boiler feeding.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.

Job Preferences/Qualifications:

โ€ข Must be able to maintain a good attendance record and able to comply with attendance policy.
โ€ข Mechanical background is a plus.
โ€ข Must be able to work on an 8- or 12-hour shift and be available for overtime.
โ€ข Able to work rotating shift schedule.
โ€ข Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds frequently.
โ€ข Must be a self-directed worker, capable of working alone or in a team environment to solve problems and implement solutions.
โ€ข Must be able to effectively read, comprehend, interpret, record, and apply information from documents (i.e., equipment manuals, SOP's, policies, etc.).
Pay Range: $21.14 - $27.25/per hour
