Overview
The Fleet Safety Manager of Spur Freight is responsible for leading safety, compliance, and risk management for a dedicated contract carriage operation. The role is primarily focused on the St. Louis location, with additional responsibility to support safety initiatives and standards at other dedicated sites as needed. The Fleet Safety Manager partners closely with operations, drivers, and customer stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant fleet performance. This role reports into Safety & Compliance leadership and operates within the enterprise governance framework established for DOT/FMCSA compliance, incident management, and regulatory oversight.
Responsibilities
  • Support site-level safety operations, driver engagement, and implementation of enterprise safety initiatives and standards.
  • Conduct driver onboarding support, safety coaching, training coordination, and performance monitoring for dedicated operations
  • Coordinate initial accident response, investigation support, documentation, and escalation in alignment with enterprise Safety & Compliance procedures.
  • Support DOT/FMCSA regulatory compliance activities, audit readiness, driver qualification file maintenance, and hours-of-service compliance in accordance with enterprise Safety & Compliance standards.
  • Monitor safety metrics, inspection results, incident trends, and provide standardized safety reporting and escalation visibility to site leadership and enterprise Safety & Compliance leadership.
  • Coordinate corrective action implementation, follow-up activities, and safety communication with operations, risk management, insurance partners, and enterprise Safety & Compliance leadership.
  • Support consistency of enterprise safety standards, investigations, and best-practice implementation across additional dedicated locations as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma or GED ()
• Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, transporation, business administration, or a related field (preferred)
Experience
• 3+ years experience in transportation safety, fleet operations, or dedicated carriage (required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Medium
• Experience managing safety programs for a driver group of 50+. Medium
• Proven ability to coach drivers and influence frontline behavior. Medium
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Medium
• Knowledge of occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Medium
• Familiarity with ELDs, telematics, or safety management systems. Medium
Licenses and Certifications
• - Safety Certification (CSP,CDS, or similar) (preferred)
• - CDL Class A (preferred)
