Job description

The position is responsible for daily LTL and Full Truckload shipment planning. The Logistics Contractor will analyze transportation methods, resolve transportation issues surrounding timely deliveries, and recommend transportation solutions. This position will also maintain current, potential, and past vendor records and cost data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrange for carrier services by specific routing requirements
  • Provide analysis of current and proposed transportation and operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities
  • Provide freight analysis and decision support systems for LTL, truckload, and other transportation systems
  • Develop, format and publish monthly key performance metrics related to customer requirements
  • Develop relationships with corporate partners and field operations to understand needs, develop solutions and support execution of those solutions.
  • Audit vendor and agent invoices for accuracy and contract compliance; review and approve transportation invoices for payment
  • Resolve service issues and help implement processes for continual improvement
  • Assist with filing of carrier claims.
  • Compile and maintain current, potential, and past vendor records.
  • Identify transportation related service and/or cost improvements through industry research.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Intermediate experience with Excel required
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required
  • Consistently demonstrates proven ability to learn and use necessary tools
  • Ability to follows process and standard procedures required
  • ERP and transportation management system knowledge and usage highly desirable; SAP a plus
  • Strong skills in routing software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify the root cause and articulate associated action plans
  • Have strong decision making and presentation skills
  • Be results driven self-motivator and proven ability to continuously improve processes and annual metrics

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or related field or equivalent combination of education and transportation industry experience.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in dispatching, freight management/brokerage, warehousing, or process development.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel up to 5% including air travel or auto travel.
