Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Logistics & VDC Planner is responsible for developing and coordinating construction logistics, site phasing, and operational planning strategies for complex construction projects using digital planning tools such as cmBuilder and BIM/VDC platforms. This role supports preconstruction and operations teams through the development of visual logistics plans, sequencing models, and construction simulations that improve project safety, coordination, and execution efficiency.
The position collaborates with project managers, superintendents, VDC/BIM teams, safety personnel, and subcontractors throughout all phases of project delivery.
JOB DUTIES:
Construction Logistics & Planning
  • Develop detailed site logistics and phasing plans for construction projects.
  • Create 3D and 4D construction sequencing models using cmBuilder and related VDC/BIM tools.
  • Coordinate crane locations, material staging areas, temporary facilities, access routes, and pedestrian/vehicle traffic flow.
  • Support constructability reviews and operational logistics planning.
  • Assist with project execution plans, site utilization plans, and safety logistics planning.
  • Coordinate sequencing with project schedules and field operations teams.

VDC / BIM Responsibilities
  • Support implementation and maintenance of company BIM standards and procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of BIM/VDC resources.
  • Collaborate with discipline leaders to improve BIM workflows and interoperability with platforms such as Procore.
  • Participate in evaluation and implementation of construction technology initiatives.
  • Support lean construction and prefabrication planning efforts.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Participate in coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors.
  • Produce client-facing graphics, presentations, and simulations.
  • Comply with company quality control and project management procedures.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office environment with periodic visits to active construction sites. Occasional travel may be required depending on project assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and being able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
  • This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • 0 - 3 years of experience in construction operations, preconstruction, VDC/BIM, or project planning preferred.
  • Preferred software experience includes cmBuilder, Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Procore, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience using cmBuilder, BIM platforms, or construction visualization software.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and field operations.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Familiarity with BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit or Navisworks preferred.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
