Position Summary
The Distribution Center (DC) Operations Manager is responsible for leading daily warehouse operations within Consolidated Supply Co.'s automated replenishment distribution center. This role may oversee inbound or outbound operations depending on business needs and operational priorities.
The DC Operations Manager is a visible, hands-on leader who promotes a safety-first culture, develops employees and supervisors, and drives consistent execution of safety, quality, service, and productivity standards. This role partners closely with the DC General Manager, Operations leadership, Maintenance, Information Technology (IT), and automation/system vendors to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations within a highly automated environment utilizing AS/RS, conveyors, sortation systems, and a Tier 1 warehouse management system (WMS).
This position leads front-line supervisors and warehouse employees in a fast-paced operation, applying disciplined execution, daily management, and continuous improvement practices to deliver safe, stable, and scalable operational results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily warehouse operations including receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, staging, loading, and shipping
  • Manage staffing, labor planning, workflow balancing, and operational execution to meet service, quality, and productivity goals
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulations
  • Support and sustain reliable execution within an automated warehouse environment including AS/RS, conveyors, sortation systems, and WMS-directed workflows
  • Partner with IT, maintenance, and automation vendors to troubleshoot operational or system-related issues and maintain system uptime
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and warehouse employees to support engagement, accountability, and performance
  • Monitor and improve KPIs including safety, throughput, service levels, inventory accuracy, and cost efficiency
  • Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives utilizing tools such as 5S, Gemba, PDCA, and Kaizen
  • Reinforce inventory control processes and transactional discipline within the warehouse management system
  • Maintain visible floor leadership and foster a culture of teamwork, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, Accounting, IT, HR/Training & Development, and other business partners to support operational priorities and business continuity

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, logistics, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments
  • Minimum 3 years of direct people leadership experience in warehouse or operational settings
  • Experience operating within warehouse management system (WMS)-directed environments required
  • Exposure to automated warehouse operations including AS/RS, conveyors, or sortation systems preferred
  • Strong operational leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Experience utilizing Lean or continuous improvement methodologies preferred
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
