Job description

DISA Tech is seeking a Director of Operations to lead site and operational execution in Casper, WY campus (primary base). This role owns production and unit delivery end-to-end—from engineering handoff through build, commissioning, and customer support—while directing supply chain, production, technicians, and project management teams. The ideal candidate brings experience scaling equipment manufacturing or industrial technology operations, implementing quality and project control systems, and leading cross-functional teams in a high-growth environment. Reporting closely to the President, the Director will also serve as a strategic thought partner on scaling decisions, own safety and quality culture (with the HSO reporting into this role), and represent operations externally with customers and investors.

ROLE DESCRIPTION Site & Facility Leadership
  • Serve as the senior on-site leader for the Casper campus and provide operational oversight for the Westminster, CO facility.
  • Accountable for operational budget and performance.
  • Lead facility operations, including safety, compliance, security, maintenance, and 5S standards.
  • Directly manage Supply Chain, Production, Operations Technicians, Project Management, and Health & Safety teams.
  • Oversee team structure, staffing, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Lead regular operational reviews to track performance, coordinate cross-functional activities, and resolve risks.
Production & Unit Delivery
  • Manage Engineering-to-Operations handoff, including design release, approved BOM, drawings and specifications, unit configuration, technical deviations, and quality requirements
  • Maintain visibility into production schedule/backlog and flag risks early
  • Communicate directly with DISA Uranium on unit orders, shakedowns, and repairs; prioritize such unit orders according to internal agreements
  • Manage spare parts, repair turnaround, and assist the technical services manager with field service logistics
Project Execution & Controls
  • Establish and enforce consistent project execution and project controls practices, including baseline scope, cost, schedule, cash flow, change management, risk tracking, forecasting, and timely escalation of deviations
  • Maintain an integrated capacity plan covering labor, shop loading, suppliers, long-lead materials, commissioning resources, field service, and expected unit backlog
Quality Ownership
  • Own operational quality systems, including supplier quality, inspection, non-conformance management, corrective action, manufacturing records, factory acceptance testing, and feedback from field failures
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Own the handoff process between Engineering and Operations (design-to-build, BOM accuracy, change orders)
  • Work with Engineering on design-for-manufacturability feedback loops
  • Coordinate with Project Management around BD/Sales on delivery timelines and customer commitments
External-Facing Responsibilities
  • Host tours for investors, customers, and external stakeholders
  • Travel to customer sites periodically to audit equipment performance and crew operations
  • Serve as an operational point of contact for key customer relationships
Meetings & Reporting
  • Participate in weekly all-hands management, production, and engineering meetings
  • Provide regular operations reporting/KPIs to leadership (throughput, on-time delivery, safety incidents, headcount)
Supply Chain & Vendor Management
  • Own vendor relationships and procurement strategy for production materials/components
  • Manage inventory levels and lead-time risk
  • Negotiate contracts/pricing with key suppliers (or oversee whoever does)
Support Functions:
  • Assist HR and IT with backend and operations/initiatives.
Education/ Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or equivalent hands-on experience considered in lieu of degree
  • 8+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in equipment manufacturing, industrial technology, or heavy equipment/capital goods environments
  • Proven track record scaling production or project delivery teams in a high-growth or startup-to-scale-up environment
  • Direct experience managing cross-functional teams spanning supply chain, production, technicians, and project management
  • Demonstrated success implementing quality systems (NCR/CAPA, FAT, inspection, manufacturing records) and project controls (scope, cost, schedule, risk tracking)
  • Experience owning engineering-to-operations handoffs, including BOM management, design releases, and technical deviations
  • Background in site/facility leadership, including safety culture, 5S standards, and compliance ownership
  • Familiarity with capacity planning across labor, shop loading, and long-lead materials/suppliers
  • Experience with customer-facing responsibilities such as commissioning, field service, or on-site performance audits
  • Prior P&L-adjacent accountability (budget, inventory, labor productivity, warranty exposure) preferred
