Test And Fill Facility Operations Manager
The Test and Fill Facility (TFF) Operations Manager will report directly to the TFF Site Manager and play a key role in ensuring the functionality and configuration of test systems at the TFF. This role involves leading a team of engineers and operators to execute testing and facility operations critical to TerraPower technology development. The Operations Manager will oversee daily test system operations to maintain safety, performance, and compliance with TerraPower standards while fostering a collaborative and effective work environment.
Responsibilities
Test System Management and Maintenance:
    • Maintain the functionality and configuration of TFF test systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements.
    • Provide technical oversight for maintenance and operation of TFF test systems.

Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of operators and engineers in charge of operating and maintaining TFF test systems.
    • Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure testing activities align with project goals.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Facility Operations and Coordination:
    • Oversee daily operations of the TFF test systems, including test protocols, maintenance, and test building activities.
    • Coordinate larger item moves within the facility and ensure proper inventory management of supplies, tools, and PPE.
    • Interface with building contractors and TFF Site Manager for upgrades or changes to testing infrastructure.

Safety and Compliance:
    • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Program Manager to implement TerraPower safety requirements and maintain a safe, clean, and organized test.
    • Ensure safety training and qualifications are completed for all staff operating TFF test systems.
    • Train and qualify new staff for incident response at a sodium facility.
    • Play a key role in emergency response situations.

Technical Support:
    • Provide input and review of testing plans and activities to ensure technical precision, feasibility, and alignment to test sponsor needs.
    • Coordinate with TP IT to maintain IT system functionality and security, including security cameras and computer networks needed for test system operation.
    • Provide feedback and technical leadership when assessing test system impacts from new or changing test sponsor requests.

Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Support TerraPower visits and tours, showcasing facility operations and safety adherence.

Key Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum high school diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience in Nuclear, Aerospace, Industrial, Mechanical industries or industrial operating environments.
  • Extensive experience in facility management
  • Experience in test system configuration preferred

Leadership and Teamwork:
  • Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and operate within a matrixed organization preferred.

Self-Direction and Motivation:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to solve challenging problems.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple tasks concurrently during a workweek.
  • High degree of trustworthiness and integrity, with open communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Technical Proficiency:
  • Hands-on skills in fabrication, welding, and electronics buildout.
  • High familiarity with chemical hazards; experience with Sodium is a plus.

Safety and Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated expertise in safety regulations and processes.
