Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for coordinating the interior aesthetic standards for the organization as well as overseeing projects in every phase of design throughout construction administration. This includes maximizing efficiency and ensuring the health and safety of the users occupying the constructed space. The coordinator pulls together the rest of the project team, such as the architect, contractors, consultants and the end users. While developing the plan for the interior space of the building is the primary responsibility, defining the scope, establishing schedule and budget, and producing drawings are additional responsibilities. They will provide training on design best practices and mentor the design department as other project managers seek interior architecture support. The incumbent works with departments across the organization to ensure that all facilities meet a standard reflecting the level of care and services provided. Client facing along with on-site construction administration experience are significant to this role. This position requires knowledge of and adherence to building code and regulatory requirements. The position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Establishes aesthetic standards across the organization relating to paint color, flooring, wall finishes, furniture, art work, and other key components.
  • Works with the appropriate teams to establish, maintain and update aesthetic standards and guidelines.
  • Researches and remains updated on the latest design trends, including evidence based design, to help improve efficiency and comfort.
  • Meets with department leadership and support staff regularly in order to create, evaluate and update aesthetics, furniture, signage, art work, develop project scopes and estimates, and manage the project implementation process.
  • Coordinates with consultants when necessary in order to evaluate facilities, then processes and develops plans based on recommendations.
  • Coordinates with all capital construction and infrastructure projects to ensure standards are being met, including inspections of projects during construction.
  • Provides education and mentoring to the design team as needed in the areas of code compliance within the interior design.
  • Counsels the customer regarding the processes of project development, procurement of services, and all other aspects of project implementation.
  • Develops communication plans for each project and keeps customer and team updated on project status.

  • Ability to function in AutoCAD and Revit computer software programs.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area, or the equivalency.
  • Four (4) years of experience in interior design, or a related area.
  • Depending upon department of hire, a valid, State of Utah Driver's License may be required.

Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
  • Four (4) years of experience in healthcare-related design.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.
  • This position involves sedentary to light work and may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in an office setting. The employee may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects from 10 - 20 pounds. While visiting a construction site, the incumbent may be exposed to hazards such as noise, vibration, or atmospheric conditions.
