Job description

A nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design, and planning firm is seeking a Healthcare Planner / Healthcare Designer to join its Philadelphia office. This individual will play a key role in the planning and design of complex healthcare facilities, partnering with project leadership from early programming through construction administration.
The ideal candidate is passionate about creating innovative healthcare environments, excels in client-facing situations, and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead healthcare planning and design efforts from programming and conceptual design through construction administration and project closeout.
- Collaborate with project leadership and planning teams to develop functional, patient-centered healthcare environments that incorporate current industry best practices.
- Translate client goals into thoughtful building designs that balance operational efficiency, aesthetics, and long-term flexibility.
- Guide clients through planning and design decisions while communicating architectural concepts clearly throughout each project phase.
- Develop and refine building designs while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and project requirements.
- Lead design presentations and communicate project vision to clients, stakeholders, and internal project teams.
- Coordinate closely with architecture, engineering, interiors, civil, and landscape disciplines to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients on design-related matters while maintaining strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor and support project team members while promoting design excellence and collaboration.
- Participate in construction administration activities, responding to field questions and helping ensure successful project delivery.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Registered Architect (RA) license with the ability to obtain reciprocal licensure in additional states.
- 5-15 years of experience in healthcare planning, healthcare architecture, or healthcare design.
- Strong understanding of healthcare facility planning principles, clinical workflows, and design best practices.
- Experience leading healthcare projects through multiple phases of design and construction.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal, written, graphic, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while managing client relationships.
- Experience facilitating user group meetings with clinical stakeholders is highly preferred.
- LEED AP and/or EDAC certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with Lean healthcare planning principles is preferred.
- Local healthcare project experience is beneficial but not required.
