Job description

American Implement is seeking a SERVICE MANAGER for our dealership in Dodge City, Kansas. A Service Manager is an integral part of the aftermarket team. The successful candidate will have a proven record of being business savvy while maintaining a customer focus. This position reports to the Location Manager and Aftermarket Service Specialist. Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and have a clean motor vehicle record. EOE.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages service operations within the dealership to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize return on investment by optimizing service department processes. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and assists with development of department personnel.

Total earning potential will vary depending on your department's success and the overall performance of your location.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives.
  • Develops and executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals.
  • Coordinates customer clinics, field days, and related promotional events.
  • Submits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit to the Central Warranty Administrator.
  • Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge.
  • Reviews repair orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing.
  • Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
  • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position.
  • Assists with the development and training of service personnel and completes performance reviews of service staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years' experience in service department operations.
  • Experience with lawn or heavy equipment.
  • Experience in supervision and management.
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations.
  • Experience using Service Center or other computer based diagnostic repair tools is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching overhead, must be able to regularly lift 50 lbs. without assistance, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing.
