With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a Sr. Director to lead our Synergy portfolio. The successful candidate will work alongside a department of expert orthopedic healthcare professionals, world class faculty, strategic development and product management.
Main Objective:
The Sr. Director - Synergy is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, product development, and performance of Arthrex's global Imaging, Resection, Fluid Management, Power, OR Integration, and Capital Service & Repair business portfolios (Synergy Portfolio). The role aligns cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, compliant products, optimize operational and financial performance, support complex capital sales, and ensure effective execution across the full product lifecycle, while developing talent and supporting corporate growth initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide global vision and develop multi-year strategic plans for the Synergy portfolio, in close collaboration with the Strategic Development team.
  • Lead end to end portfolio and product management strategy, guiding research and development priorities, commercialization plans, platform roadmaps, and lifecycle management, in coordination with Strategic Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales leadership.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Synergy business, including product portfolios, market strategies, competitive positioning, cost structures, service and support models, and overall business performance.
  • Own portfolio level forecasting, business case development, capital utilization strategy, and financial justification for product and platform initiatives, in partnership with Finance and Strategic Development.
  • Guide capital sales strategy for the portfolio in collaboration with Sales leadership, addressing sales cycles, OR integration complexities, capital support requirements, general surgery needs, and regional localization challenges.
  • Serve as the primary executive interface for the portfolio with key customers, agencies, and partners, including participation in critical sales situations and strategic negotiations.
  • Coordinate portfolio initiatives with Engineering, Operations, Service, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Establish portfolio program objectives, priorities, and resource requirements, working with functional leaders to ensure initiatives are delivered on schedule, within budget, and aligned with portfolio strategy.
  • In close partnership with Manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership, develop and drive strategic initiatives to optimize production, sourcing, and profitability.
  • Guide portfolio registration strategies and product support models in collaboration with Regulatory and Quality.
  • Align organizational structure, staffing, and capability development to support strategic priorities and portfolio growth.
  • Direct, develop, and coach teams to ensure high technical, commercial, and leadership capability.
  • Ensure compliance within the functional area and support organizational regulatory and quality objectives.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time or as required to fulfill job duties.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in medical devices is required, orthopedics experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years managing teams.
  • Experience with resection equipment, imaging systems, powered instruments, fluid management, and OR integration preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Strong organizational, financial, and strategic leadership skills required.
  • Skilled in coordinating different functions effectively to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent listening skills, including the ability to identify and isolate customers' concerns or objections.
  • Analytical skills are required to evaluate market reports, statistics, and other quantitative information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required, as well as a good understanding of the principles and practices of conducting negotiations and achieving results through persuasion and diplomacy.
