We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager with direct experience in the language services industry to help expand our client portfolio, strengthen strategic partnerships, and drive revenue growth across multiple sectors.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities for interpretation, translation, transcription, and language access solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of the language industry, government and commercial procurement processes, and the operational realities of language service delivery.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, relationship-oriented, and experienced in developing opportunities from lead generation through contract award and account expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in federal, state, local government, healthcare, education, legal, and commercial sectors.
  • Develop and execute strategic outreach campaigns targeting organizations requiring language access services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with procurement officers, program managers, accessibility coordinators, and decision-makers.
  • Generate leads through networking, industry events, partnerships, RFIs, RFPs, and outbound prospecting.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to proposal submission and contract negotiation.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.
Industry & Market Knowledge
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the language services industry, including:
    • ASL interpretation services
    • Spoken language interpretation (on-site, VRI, and OPI)
    • Translation and localization
    • Transcription services
    • ADA, Section 504, and Section 508 compliance requirements
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and procurement opportunities.
Proposal & Client Support
  • Collaborate with operations and project management teams to develop pricing strategies and tailored client solutions.
  • Support proposal development efforts for public sector and commercial opportunities.
  • Assist with capability statements, presentations, and client-facing materials.
  • Participate in discovery calls, client meetings, and service implementation discussions.
Account Management
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and support long-term partnership growth.
  • Track activities, pipeline updates, and forecasting.


Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience within the language services industry.
  • Proven experience selling interpretation, translation, localization, or transcription services.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business and meeting revenue goals.
  • Strong understanding of language industry operations and terminology.
  • Experience responding to or supporting RFP/RFQ processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation abilities.
