Overview

This is a part-time Seasonal Teen Instructor position. In this position you will supervise and maintain safety of the teens, interact, initiate, and encourage the teens in activities, assist in planning activities, such as: culinary arts; ecology; designing and creating various products for sale; chaperoning field trips and community service projects. Concordia Place Seasonal Teen Instructors contribute to our guiding principles of a Place of Excellence and Place of One by producing a positive and collaborative environment for their colleagues, and the teens, and the families we serve. This position works with the Teen Programs Manager to develop, implement, and manage Teen Leadership Programs.


Dates & Shift Times

  • Program Dates: June 15th – August 6th (8 weeks)
  • Hours: This is a part-time position. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-4pm. Weekend support for Ruckus programs or other events as needed
Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Work with Teen Program Director in developing and implementing Teen Leadership curriculum
  • Direct day-to-day program activities and projects with Instructor Team and Teen Program Director
  • Ensure facility program spaces are outward reflections of a Place of Excellence
  • Exhibit strong classroom management skills and help build a healthy program environment
  • Assist with marketing and promotion plan for local outreach and recruitment for program
  • Actively walk teens and families through the enrollment process
  • Offsite supervision of teens on fieldtrips, garden activities and community service projects
  • Develop effective communication and relationships with teens and their families
  • Cultivate strong community partnerships through the implementation of program projects and activities: ecology, culinary, arts, sports, conflict resolution, etc

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and experience with Concordia Place Teen Leadership - Alumni a plus
  • Knowledge of culinary and ecology basics
  • Experience working with teens and youth and planning projects and activities
  • Strong planning, organization and implementation skills; able to balance multiple tasks and set priorities demonstrating proactive approaches in solving issues before they arise
  • Establish and maintain high-level, efficient classroom management techniques while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Highly-effective writer and communicator; ability to speak and write fluently in English; Spanish a plus
  • Have a strong sense of self and be able to offer guidance and support as a mentor and a teaching leader setting examples through own actions
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills and open and honest in providing feedback for one’s self and others
