Berger Transfer and Storage is currently seeking a LOCAL DISPATCHER to join our team in Elgin, IL. Our Local Dispatcher is responsible for efficiently routing home deliveries, scheduling daily jobs and assigning crews to each job as well as communicating with customer service to ensure each customer is handled with care. This individual will also be working closely with the accounts to ensure complete customer service and will manage a team of drivers to ensure all operating procedures are being followed and drivers are compliant with DOT standards. In addition, this individual will track all shipping and receiving.
Responsibilities for our Local Dispatcher include but are not limited to:
  • Assign, plan and dispatch drivers/contractors
  • Develop partnerships to secure hauling opportunities
  • Manage daily pickup and delivery schedules based on customer needs
  • Oversee contractor performance to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery
  • Update shipment tracking and maintain timely data integrity
  • Manage contractor profitability
  • Other duties as assigned by management

The successful candidate for this position will share the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year Dispatching or Warehouse Supervisory experience
  • Ability to work well with a team, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, everchanging, high demand work environment
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills
  • Self-starter motivated by daily challenges
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong geographical knowledge

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
