Job description

Overview

We are partnering with a well-established flooring contractor to identify a Builder Account Manager to develop and manage builder accounts throughout the Port Charlotte, and surrounding Southwest Florida markets. This is a hybrid, client-facing role that combines outside sales, business development, account management, estimating, and project coordination responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has direct experience calling on production home builders and understands the local builder marketplace. Flooring experience is preferred but not required, and candidates with experience selling building products or related construction services will be considered. This individual will be responsible for developing relationships with builders, identifying new business opportunities, managing projects from sale through installation, and serving as a primary point of contact for key accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business opportunities while expanding existing relationships with production home builders
• Build and maintain partnerships with builders, purchasing teams, construction managers, and other key decision-makers
• Make regular sales calls and in-person visits to builder accounts throughout the local market
• Identify opportunities within the local builder marketplace and develop strategies to win new accounts
• Understand builder project pipelines, purchasing processes, bid opportunities, and project requirements
• Prepare project proposals, estimates, pricing, and related documentation
• Visit job sites to gather measurements, verify project scope, and assess installation requirements
• Coordinate projects from sale through final installation while ensuring schedules and customer expectations are met
• Collaborate with installation teams, vendors, estimators, project managers, and internal departments to ensure successful project execution
• Monitor project progress, proactively resolve issues, and communicate updates with customers throughout the project lifecycle
• Deliver exceptional customer service while identifying opportunities for repeat business and account growth
• Maintain accurate customer, sales, and project documentation throughout each project

Ideal Background

• Direct experience calling on production home builders strongly preferred
• Established relationships within the Port Charlotte, or surrounding Southwest Florida builder market
• Experience in outside sales, account management, business development, or territory sales within flooring, building products, construction materials, or a related industry
• Flooring experience is preferred but not required
• Experience selling products or services into the residential construction and production builder marketplace
• Strong understanding of the builder sales cycle and experience developing relationships with multiple decision-makers within an account
• Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Experience managing multiple accounts, projects, or opportunities simultaneously
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the local market

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a relationship-driven sales professional with established experience calling on production home builders in the Port Charlotte, and surrounding Southwest Florida markets. The ideal candidate understands the local builder landscape and has experience developing relationships with purchasing teams, construction managers, and other key decision-makers.

Flooring industry experience is not required for the right candidate. We are open to professionals from related building product and construction industries who have a proven track record of selling into the builder marketplace and maintaining long-term builder relationships.

Candidates should already have knowledge of and experience within the local market. This is not intended for candidates who are new to the Sarasota area or relocating to the market without established builder relationships.
