Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator (Load Planner) to join our Transportation Services team. This role is responsible for efficiently planning and coordinating the movement of goods, ensuring timely deliveries, and optimizing transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency. In addition, the position involves providing exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries, managing expectations, and resolving any issues related to transportation. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of service. This role will focus on logistics coordination (load planning, load consolidation focused on use of FTL, scheduling, dispatching, carrier and customer communication, TMS data entry and tracking, etc.) of food distribution for an ongoing USDA program delivering food to 200+ distribution points per month utilizing direct external carrier relationships with the Henderson operation acting as the hub for the program. This role will be in-office at 8125 E 88th Ave., Henderson, CO.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Plan and organize orders/shipments to ensure optimal routing, delivery schedules, and vehicle utilization.
โ€ข Collaborate with customers and warehouse teams to understand product availability, delivery requirements, and any special handling needs.
โ€ข Monitor and manage shipment schedules, ensuring all deadlines are met.
โ€ข Utilize transportation management software (TMS) to track shipments, monitor load progress, and ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
โ€ข Work closely with carriers, suppliers, warehouses and customers to resolve any issues or delays related to pickups or deliveries.
โ€ข Maintain accurate records of orders, shipments, load plans, and transportation costs for reporting purposes.
โ€ข Continuously evaluate and implement strategies to improve load efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and improve overall supply chain performance.
โ€ข Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, safety standards, and McLane Global policies.
โ€ข Prepare and submit reports on transportation performance metrics, including load optimization, cost savings, and delivery performance.
Customer Service Responsibilities:
โ€ข Act as the primary point of contact for the Account Managers regarding transportation-related inquiries, providing clear, timely, and accurate information.
โ€ข Address and resolve any delays, or issues related to shipments or deliveries.
โ€ข Provide proactive communication about delivery schedules, potential delays, and service changes.
โ€ข Work with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction by coordinating the smooth and efficient execution of transportation plans.
โ€ข Ensure all carrier interactions are documented and followed up on appropriately, ensuring ongoing customer satisfaction.
โ€ข Handle any claims or disputes related to transportation, working to resolve issues quickly and professionally while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Requirements
โ€ข 3+ years in transportation - Trucking (FTL, LTL, reefer, etc.) and 3PL brokerage preferred.
โ€ข Proven experience in transportation planning, logistics coordination, or a related field.
โ€ข Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS) and routing software.
โ€ข Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, external carriers, and customers.
โ€ข Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
โ€ข Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and make data-driven decisions.
โ€ข Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
โ€ข Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
โ€ข Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards is a plus.
