Load Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating last-minute changes in cargo, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing communication between flight crews, ground staff, and logistics teams. Building effective communication channels and using load management software can help streamline processes and reduce errors. Additionally, ongoing training in regulations and best practices helps Load Managers stay prepared for complex or unexpected situations.

What are Load Managers?

Load Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating the loading and unloading of cargo, typically in industries such as aviation, shipping, or logistics. They ensure that cargo is distributed correctly to maintain safety, balance, and efficiency. Load Managers also verify documentation, supervise loading teams, and communicate with pilots or transport operators to optimize the weight and balance of the vehicle. Their role is critical for operational safety and timely deliveries.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Load Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Load Manager, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of cargo handling and weight distribution, often supported by relevant logistics or aviation certifications. Familiarity with load planning software, cargo management systems, and safety regulations is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication help you coordinate with teams and handle unexpected challenges. These skills ensure safe, efficient, and compliant loading operations, which are critical for operational success and safety.

Job description

ETL Manager
Greenwood Village, CO (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Hybrid Role
$60 - $70 per hour
Long-term ongoing contract with potential for conversion
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client's Video Insights organization is seeking an ETL Manager to join their high-priority data group in Greenwood Village, CO. This role begins as an individual contributor, providing support to ETL developers and learning the environment, technology stack, and development patterns. Within a few months, you will transition to managing a near-shore development team (5-6 engineers) and provide temporary onshore leadership coverage. You will play a key role in bridging technical leadership and people management, collaborating with both back-end ETL and front-end Tableau/Insights teams. The position offers exposure to large-scale data environments, innovative projects such as merger integration, AI automation, VR datasets, and data monetization, and the opportunity to lead within a dynamic, growth-focused organization.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support ETL developers in converting business requirements into scalable data architecture and ETL flows
  • Review and guide technical design decisions (HQL, SQL, Bash, cloud environments)
  • Troubleshoot blockers, propose alternative solutions, and ensure efficient delivery of data pipelines
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of 300-400+ ETL jobs, ensuring data pipeline reliability
  • Provide clear, direct communication and actionable feedback to engineers
  • Lead and manage a near-shore ETL team (located in Mexico, Central Time Zone) after ramp-up
  • Collaborate with onshore teams and partner with front-end reporting teams (e.g., Tableau)
  • Contribute to initiatives such as merger integration, AI-driven efficiencies, onboarding new datasets (e.g., VR device data), and data monetization projects
  • Work closely with back-end ETL and near-shore engineers, as well as front-end Tableau/Insights teams
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Strong proficiency in SQL / HQL (reviewing, rewriting, and optimizing queries)
  • Experience with ETL flows, data architecture, and production pipelines
  • Comfort with Bash or similar scripting languages
  • Prior leadership experience (team lead, mentoring, or early-stage manager)
  • Ability to have direct, constructive conversations and hold teams accountable
  • Ability to work onsite in Denver 4 days per week (non-negotiable)
  • Curiosity and eagerness to master cloud-based data environments (AWS)
  • Excellent communication skills and authenticity in leading people
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
  • Lead a growing near-shore ETL team within one of the client's highest-priority data groups
  • Opportunity to bridge technical leadership and people management
  • Exposure to large-scale data environments-millions of customers, massive data volumes
  • Involvement in innovative initiatives: merger integration, AI automation, VR datasets, and data monetization projects
