Job description

Summary: This role will work with leadership at all levels to ensure the team's continuous development and knowledge in technical, operational and soft-skills of all aspects of the manufacturing process. The Training Coordinator leads the development of training processes and coordinate with Plant Manager, Department Heads and Supervisors, as well as subject matter experts, to ensure consistent execution. The Training Coordinator will focus on developing a more proficient workforce which translates to safer operations, lower employee turnover, improved quality results and increased productivity. Also, assists with creation, and revision of work instructions to ensure they are accurate and appropriate for all pertinent tasks accomplished by team members. The Training Coordinator ensures that all training records are properly recorded in the Company's LMS system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Confer with supervisors and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, work instructions, regulations, and business initiatives.
  • Ensure there is visibility and active plan to develop the skills and capabilities of every person of the team.
  • Fully utilize the LMS system for making smaller, reoccurring training modules. Develop the modules and then issue them out for required training to employees.
  • Lead UCC University training sessions. Refine the content of UCC University training to ensure accuracy and validity. Ensure that new employees receive the appropriate UCC University courses.
  • Provide on the-the-job training, as needed, with a strong focus on the Operations and Production teams.
  • Lead both 1:1 and group training sessions in a classroom setting as well as on the floor.
  • Write and update work instructions for Manufacturing, and other areas as needed, ensuring full compliance to accreditations, certifications, and any audits.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents including technical data sheets, safety rules, work instructions, and procedure manuals in order to ensure UCC compliance.
  • Develop and implement technical training programming for all Manufacturing operations as well as assisting in the development of the same for Technology and Quality, grounded in established best practices and in compliance with all safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Develop and implement cross-training programs.
  • Maintain employee training records.
  • Participate in the interview process for Production Team Members, and other roles as needed.
  • Formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods.
  • Select and recommend teaching aids: handbooks, demonstration models, visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference materials.
  • Conduct training sessions covering on-the-job training for new employees, refresher training for transferring employees, cross training for existing employees.
  • Test trainees to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Report on progress of employees during training periods.
  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce company policies and safety rules.
  • Oversee, guide, and mentor employees in the training environment as well as during normal work situations.
  • Complete and maintain personnel documents: sign in sheets, job training checklists, and skills tests.
  • Ability to represent the Manufacturing process during TS and ISO audits.
  • Assist in other Manufacturing areas as needed or directed.
  • Manage the LMS system. Add and remove users, assign training, and follow-up to ensure completion.
  • Manage the Maintenance Apprenticeship program and other apprenticeship/training programs.
  • Follow UCC Quality System-approved work instructions and procedures and help improve these as needed.
  • Responsible for successful facilitation of all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete monthly Safety Observations and attend UCC Connect Meetings.
