Job description

Our Waterton facility in Littleton, CO has an immediate opportunity for a Traffic Administration Manager to join our mission. In this role, you will serve as the manager for ~10 employees to oversee shipping, packing/crating, distribution, and traffic administration missions, working in close coordination with LM Space Transportation, LMS Programs, commercial vendors, civilian and military airports, LM Space's International Trade Compliance Office, and customers. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and federal and state regulatory requirements.
As the shipping manager, you will manage the planning, scheduling, and routing of inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight; manage the fabrication of wood shipping crates to support outbound shipments and storage of critical assemblies; comply with DOT and State shipping documentation laws (CFR 49, IATA, etc); represent company with carriers, negotiate claims, and select carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost effective movement of goods and material; ensure Traffic Management compliance for areas designated as Foreign Trade Zone; responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Additional duties include monitoring carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of transportation, and maintaining audit-compliant systems (e.g. AS9100).
Weekly/Monthly responsibilities include:
- Coordination with internal customers and Packaging Engineering group to establish pack and ship requirements to ensure shipments are protected during transit.
-Interface with leaders across Programs to ensure critical paths and schedules are met - use effective direct communication to understand requirements.
- Determine priority of work and apply resources (people, material, and equipment) to achieve results. Focus is on safe delivery as well as key performance indicator (KPI) for on-time delivery.
- Assess need for vendor transportation services vs. LM-owned transportation for over-the-road transports and recommend best option for cost, schedule and performance.
- Ensure the safe outcome of daily operations for team, equipment and cargo. Work environment includes power tools, MHE, tripping hazards, loading docks, trucks, and HazMat as cargo.
- Manage operating expenses within budget, to include labor costs and raw material costs.
- Provide basic HM/DG training to employees across the Space BA
