Job description

Neonatologist Opportunity in Fredericksburg, VA
Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking an experienced, board-certified Neonatologist to join and help lead a growing Level III NICU program at a reputable medical center in Fredericksburg. This role offers a flexible week-on/week-off schedule and home call model, with the added convenience of easy access to Washington, D.C.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a Level III NICU and newborn nursery.
  • Attend and manage high-risk deliveries in collaboration with OB and perinatal teams.
  • Deliver patient-centered care to a daily census of approximately 9-11 patients.
  • Work within an 8-bed Level III NICU and 10 LDR couplet care rooms.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including:
    • 2 Neonatologists
    • 4.5 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
    • Nursing and respiratory therapy staff
  • Mentor and support NICU nursing and respiratory teams as patient acuity grows.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical protocols.
  • Contribute to strategic growth and expansion of the NICU program.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts.
  • Maintain strong communication with hospital leadership and staff.
  • Optional participation in moonlighting opportunities across Virginia.
Qualifications:
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neonatology.
  • Virginia Medical License (or willingness to obtain).
  • Clean Malpractice/License History - Highly preferred.
  • Neonatology experience - Required (experienced candidates only).
  • Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active) - Required.
  • DEA - Must be obtained prior to start.
License and Certification Requirements:
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - Implied standard for neonatology roles.
  • DEA license - Typically required for prescribing.
