Job description

Company Overview

A boutique residential homebuilder focused on high-end custom homes is looking for a detail-oriented construction accountant to manage their project finances, maintain healthy cash flow, and ensure every home we build is a profitable success.

Core Responsibilities

  • Project Job Costing: Track all direct and indirect costs for every build. Maintain a real-time Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule to monitor project health.
  • Loan Draw Management: Prepare and coordinate construction loan draw requests with lenders. Ensure timely funding to keep projects moving on schedule.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Oversight: Manage the full AP cycle for subcontractors. Ensure all Lien Waivers are signed and Certificates of Insurance (COI) are current before payments are issued.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting: Provide owner with monthly cash flow projections and "Budget vs. Actual" reports to guide future pricing and land acquisitions.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliation: Oversee all entries in QuickBooks Online. Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Payroll & Compliance: Manage company payroll and ensure all construction-related tax filings and workers' comp audits are handled correctly.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of accounting experience preferred, specifically within the construction or real estate development industry.
  • Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding construction revenue recognition and the nuances of the homebuilding lifecycle.

Soft Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with site supers, subcontractors, and owners. Positive Attitude with a willingness to learn and help others.

Working Conditions

  • Environment: Professional office setting; standard Monโ€“Fri hours.
  • Location: Raleigh, NC
  • Travel: Minimal; primarily local for banking or occasional site visits.
