We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Staff Accountant to support our growing portfolio of development and construction projects.

Position Overview

The Construction Staff Accountant plays a key role in managing financial operations across multiple construction and development projects. This position ensures accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance, while partnering closely with project teams and leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Management
  • Process accounts payable using TimberScan (hard costs) and Beanworks (soft costs)

  • Manage vendor communication, AP workflows, and weekly payment recommendations

  • Perform AR billing for construction and development projects

  • Track retainage, T&M billing, and over/under billing

  • Maintain general ledger, including job cost entries and account reconciliations

  • Complete bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Record payroll entries and allocate labor across projects

  • Track fixed assets and capitalization

  • Reconcile loans, insurance, and other balance sheet accounts

Construction Finance & Reporting
  • Prepare construction loan draws and support equity reconciliations

  • Assist with WIP reporting and financial statement preparation

  • Prepare financial reports across multiple entities (construction, development, and personal)

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and year-end tax preparation

Systems & Process Support
  • Utilize Sage 100 and Sage 100 Contractor

  • Maintain accurate documentation and improve accounting processes

  • Prepare lien waivers and business license renewals

Construction & Project Support
  • Support project accounting in Procore, including:

    • Job setup

    • Change orders

    • Subcontracts and purchase orders

    • Owner and subcontractor invoicing

  • Assist with subcontractor compliance (W-9s, COIs)

  • Help resolve integration issues between Procore and Sage

  • Support project teams with pay applications and lien waiver tracking

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

  • 2+ years of accounting experience (construction accounting strongly preferred)

  • Experience with Sage and/or Procore is a plus

  • Strong understanding of job costing and construction financial processes

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
