A litigator is a law professional who represents people in all types of legal cases. In this career, you may work for a client during mediation or settlement proceedings as well as on matters that are heard by a judge in court. Since most civil cases settle out of court, negotiating settlements can be a big part of your job. However, as a litigator, your duties extend to all aspects of the legal process including pre-trial research and preparation, negotiating, arranging evidence and witnesses, representing the client in court, and filing relevant appeals.
