OPPORTUNITY | Paralegal

Must possess at least five years of experience in civil litigation defense and expertise in e-filing in state and federal courts.

 

SKILLS and ABILITIES

 The following are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities each a candidate must possess.  We recognize that a candidate the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will need additional training, which our partners will provide. 

Example:

  • Knowledge of electronic filing requirements at state and federal courts in Georgia;
  • Experience and outstanding performance record with calendaring all events, including court filing deadlines;
  • Excellent writing skills (grammar, punctuation, vocabulary);
  • Ability to· work proactively, independently and as part of a team;
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and effective under tight time constraints;
  • Judgment:   Ability to organize, prioritize, and implement urgent tasks with strong attention to detail;
  • Outstanding work product;
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and PDF maker (Nuance or Adobe Pro) and in navigating the Internet; and,
  • IManage experience a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare state and federal pleadings for e-filing with courts;
  • For high-volume discovery:  Create organization system and oversee its maintenance;
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a busy legal environment;
  • Organize large volumes of case-related documents;
  • Ability to locate and reference specific documents quickly (e.g. trial exhibits, deposition transcripts, key discovery responses, case correspondence, and communications);
  • Support attorney defense litigation practice ( i.e. phone conferences, meetings, case deadlines, hearing and trial dates, mediations and depositions, as well as scheduling orders and moving docket forward);
  •                Document, organize and assist with preparation for trials and arbitrations hearings;
  •               Save, file and organize pleadings, motions, and related e-filed or emailed documented dates on a daily basis;
  •               Maintain daily calendar with ability to forecast and prioritize relevant deadlines;
  •               Maintain professional demeanor and a positive attitude with colleagues, clients, co-counsel, and court personnel; and,
  •               Enter billing time daily.
