Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced and organized Litigation Legal Assistant to join a leading law firm’s Denver office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-performing legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys providing exceptional support to busy litigation attorneys.

If you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and ready to play a key role in managing complex legal matters, this position offers an excellent platform for growth within a collaborative and respected firm.

About the Role

As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of the litigation team — managing case details, drafting legal documents, maintaining schedules, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role requires precision, initiative, and the ability to juggle competing priorities while maintaining professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

  • File documents electronically in state and federal courts while ensuring compliance with procedural rules and filing deadlines.

  • Serve as a professional liaison between clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and vendors.

  • Manage attorney calendars — scheduling court appearances, depositions, client meetings, and case deadlines.

  • Prepare expense reports, handle billing documentation, and assist with case management.

  • Track and monitor deadlines, ensuring timely completion of all assigned tasks.

  • Perform ad hoc administrative duties as required to support the litigation team.

Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of litigation support experience, ideally supporting multiple attorneys in a mid-size or large law firm.

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience with legal document management systems, such as iManage.

  • Familiarity with legal terminology, litigation procedures, and court protocols.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Work Environment & Benefits
  • Hybrid Schedule: Up to four remote workdays per month; remainder in-office at the firm’s Denver office.

  • Collaborative Culture: Join a team of professionals dedicated to excellence, integrity, and client service.

  • Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000 annually (commensurate with experience and performance).

  • Comprehensive Benefits: 401(k), profit sharing, health, dental, vision, and paid time off.

  • Professional Development: Opportunities for continued learning and advancement in a supportive environment.
