Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Litigation Associate to join the Washington, D.C. office of a nationally recognized Am Law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 3โ€“4 years of litigation experience who is looking to take on significant responsibility while working on sophisticated commercial, consumer, and class action disputes.

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent writing and analytical abilities, and experience practicing in federal and state courts. This role offers meaningful client interaction, hands-on case management responsibilities, and the opportunity to work on high-profile disputes alongside experienced litigators.

ResponsibilitiesLitigation & Case Management
  • Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal filings
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy analyses
  • Manage written discovery, document review, and deposition preparation
  • Coordinate with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and courts
  • Assist with hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trial preparation
Commercial & Consumer Disputes
  • Represent clients in commercial litigation and consumer-related disputes
  • Participate in class action defense matters
  • Analyze complex factual and legal issues and develop litigation strategies
  • Work directly with clients on case management and litigation objectives
Client Interaction
  • Serve in a client-facing role with increasing responsibility
  • Communicate case developments and strategic recommendations
  • Collaborate with partners and clients on litigation and resolution strategies
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active District of Columbia Bar membership in good standing
  • 3โ€“4 years of litigation experience
