Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join a nationally recognized Life Sciences IP Litigation practice in Denver. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with experience handling pharmaceutical patent disputes who is looking to work on sophisticated, high-stakes litigation for leading innovator life sciences companies.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) and/or Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA) litigation, as well as a strong interest in complex patent litigation and client counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Represent innovator pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in patent disputes
  • Handle all phases of life sciences patent litigation in federal district courts
  • Assist with Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) litigation matters
  • Assist with BPCIA and biologics-related patent disputes
  • Participate in Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings
  • Conduct legal research and draft:
    • Motions
    • Briefs
    • Legal memoranda
    • PTAB filings
  • Support litigation strategy, case management, and trial preparation
  • Work closely with experts, in-house counsel, and business stakeholders
  • Advise clients on patent enforcement, litigation risk, and strategic IP matters
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Experience in life sciences patent litigation
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Hatch-Waxman (ANDA) litigation
    • BPCIA litigation
    • Pharmaceutical patent litigation
    • Biotechnology patent litigation
    • PTAB proceedings
  • Experience representing innovator pharmaceutical companies preferred
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical abilities
  • Excellent oral advocacy and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage complex litigation matters in a fast-paced environment
