Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8: 30AM-5: 00PM
Salary: $65, 000-$80, 000 annually, depending on experienceJob Responsibilities:
  • Provide essential legal practice and administrative support to attorneys.
  • Draft, format, edit, and proofread legal documents.
  • Prepare and submit documents for filing in federal, state, and appellate courts through CM/ECF and eCourts platforms.
  • Ensure timely and accurate service of all filed documents in accordance with applicable local rules.
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical case files, ensuring accurate recordkeeping of documents.
  • Establish and maintain calendars and deadline reminder systems as needed.
  • Communicate professionally with internal team members, clients, outside counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel in person, by email, and by telephone, maintaining confidentiality when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, with the ability to read and understand local court rules.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials, including creating and producing exhibits, trial notebooks, and related materials.
  • Prepare and coordinate service of subpoenas.
  • Assist with the discovery process and conduct legal research as directed.
  • Assist with seminar registrations and travel arrangements for attorneys as needed.
  • Coordinate attorney attendance at CLE programs, both locally and out of town, as requested.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls for attorneys as needed.
  • Route incoming mail and deliveries and prepare outgoing mail via USPS, FedEx, and UPS.
  • Travel to local courthouses, FedEx, USPS, and other businesses as needed for document pickups and deliveries.
  • Perform other reasonable and customary legal support tasks as assigned by attorneys or the Firm Administrator.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of paralegal experience required; preference will be given to candidates with relevant commercial bankruptcy or civil litigation experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; an Associate degree combined with commensurate experience will be considered.
  • North Carolina Notary Public preferred, or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, communicate clearly, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Above-average technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel, as well as Adobe PDF.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple projects simultaneously, and take ownership of projects through completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person, by email, and by telephone.
  • Ability to follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys and staff and work cohesively as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must successfully pass a North Carolina background check and drug screening.
