Overview:Cooperstown Jr./Sr. High School is seeking a passionate and creative
Literary Magazine Advisor to lead our student-driven multimedia literary publication. This club provides a space for students in grades 7-12 to express themselves through poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art, and film. The advisor plays a vital role in nurturing student creativity, providing editorial guidance, and facilitating opportunities for publication and recognition.
Key Responsibilities: - Organize and facilitate monthly meetings (with additional sessions near publication deadlines).
- Mentor students in creative writing, editing, and visual storytelling through individual feedback and group workshops.
- Oversee the submission, selection, and editing process for student work, ensuring the highest standards of creativity and inclusivity.
- Coordinate public readings, writing contests, and submissions to external literary outlets.
- Maintain and update the Literary Magazine website, showcasing student art, writing, and multimedia projects.
- Promote student engagement and create a supportive space for peer collaboration and artistic exploration.
- Serve as the faculty liaison between student editors, school administration, and outside publishers or organizations.
Qualifications: Required: - Strong background in English, creative writing, journalism, or a related field.
- Excellent editing, communication, and mentorship skills.
- Ability to guide and inspire student writers and artists in the creative process.
- Familiarity with publishing tools and digital platforms (e.g., web publishing, layout software, or blog hosting).
Preferred: - Experience in literary publication, writing instruction, or student journalism.
- Comfort with multimedia platforms including visual art, film, and audio.
- Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive creative environment.
