Job description

Overview

Placement Type:

Temporary

Salary:

$40.50-45.25 Hourly

Start Date:

Jul 13, 2026

The Social Community Manager is the day-to-day steward of the organization's presence across Reddit and other organic social channels. This role owns frontline engagement - finding the right conversations, showing up authentically in communities, and managing the organization's owned Reddit properties. This is a hands-on execution role for someone who lives in the communities they manage, understands Reddit culture deeply, and can balance brand standards with community norms without sacrificing either.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Management & Engagement
  • Monitor and manage owned Reddit communities daily; maintain community health, sidebar rules, pinned posts, and subreddit reputation.
  • Execute reactive engagement - identify, prioritize, and respond to Reddit threads mentioning the organization, competitor programs, or high-priority verticals.
  • Coordinate ambassador posting activity in real time: surface live threads, assign them to the right subject matter expert or ambassador voice, and provide feedback on draft responses.
  • Escalate hostile or sensitive threads quickly and confidently; maintain and enforce a clear escalation protocol.
  • Maintain account health across the organization's owned Reddit properties - karma, post frequency, engagement cadence, and community standing.
Listening & Reporting
  • Run daily social listening across 10-15 priority subreddits using Sprinklr; maintain listening dashboards and alert configurations.
  • Produce weekly listening reports for leadership: trending topics, sentiment signals, competitor activity, and AEO citation opportunities.
  • Track post-level engagement metrics (upvotes, comments, thread reach, awards) and flag performance patterns to the Content Strategist.
  • Identify emerging subreddit opportunities as the program scales; monitor community health signals.
Ambassador Coordination - Tactical
  • Serve as the real-time operational point of contact for active ambassadors: surface threads, confirm availability, review posts in the coordination workflow.
  • Flag gray-area threads, compliance concerns, or ambassador issues to the Ambassador Program Manager before they escalate.
  • Track per-ambassador posting activity and report weekly participation data to the Program Manager.
Cross-Functional
  • Partner with the Social Content Strategist weekly to share what's resonating in communities and what prompt formats are underperforming.
  • Coordinate with the Social Ambassador Program Manager on ambassador availability, onboarding timing, and program health signals.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Marketing on disclosure compliance; flag any departures from approved language immediately.
This role does not...
  • Develop the overall content strategy or post prompt library - that's the Content Strategist.
  • Manage the ambassador relationship lifecycle (onboarding, training, retention) - that's the Ambassador Program Manager.
  • Own agency relationships or AEO audit reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • 3-5 years of social media community management experience, with demonstrated hands-on execution.
  • Active, fluent Reddit user - personal or professional Reddit experience required. You should understand karma, subreddit culture, and the difference between a thread that will land and one that won't.
  • Hands-on experience with Sprinklr for social listening, publishing, and reporting.
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write in a human, non-promotional voice that sounds nothing like a press release.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage escalations calmly and quickly.
Preferred
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or other regulated industries where organizational voice is scrutinized.
  • Familiarity with AEO/AI-generated content landscape and how Reddit threads feed AI answers.
  • Experience coordinating volunteer or ambassador contributor networks.
