Job Duties
The successful candidate will defend the Commonwealth of Virginia, its agencies and departments, and its officials and employees in state and federal courts, litigating cases which can range from personal injury torts to alleged violations of constitutional rights. The representation will include drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting all aspects of discovery, including investigation, e-discovery and motions practice, and providing legal advice to clients through the course of litigation, court appearances, and trial and appellate work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar required.
  • The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, the ability to manage a significant and challenging caseload, a willingness to assist and supervise others, and the flexibility to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.
  • This position presents an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate to be a part of a dynamic team and to perform a valuable public service.

Additional Considerations
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of civil litigation experience in federal or state court is preferred; similar litigation experience will be considered.
