Join Cascade Engineering as a Production Supervisor (internally known as a Front Line Leader). We call this role a Front Line Leader because it's about more than supervising production, it's about leading people, building culture, and delivering results. As the leader of your shift, you'll be responsible for safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and team performance while creating an environment where employees are engaged, developed, and empowered to succeed. You'll set the pace on the production floor, communicate expectations, remove barriers, solve problems, and ensure your team has the support needed to meet customer and business goals.
As a hands-on leader, you'll coach and develop employees, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and partner with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. From optimizing labor and improving efficiency to reducing scrap, increasing OEE, and fostering a culture rooted in accountability and Servant Leadership, you'll have a direct impact on both people and performance every day. Location: Buursma Plant(5055 36th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)
Shift: Night Shift from 6pm - 6:10am (rotation working 3 days one week, 4 days the next and every other weekend)
Target Pay: The target starting base salary for this position is $58,000.00 - $88,000.00 / year (plus quarterly bonus incentive). Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Cascade Engineering considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver on established key performance indicators (KPIs), including reduced turnover and improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) minimized downtime and scrap, on time first piece approvals, labor efficiency, customer concerns, schedule attainment, and completion of performance reviews and PFC audits
  • Plan and allocate labor in line with production schedule to meet customer demands while maintaining high product quality
  • Lead and/or participate in data driven root cause problem solving to drive KPI improvements
  • Communicate effectively through pre-shift and shift meetings, handoffs between shifts, and end of shift reporting
  • Collaborate with leaders and departments to ensure company goals, strategies, and policies are implemented consistently
  • Enforce company policies with HR partners, providing timely, fair and consistent performance feedback
  • Ensure compliance with product quality standards (ISO, TS16949, IATF, etc.), work instructions and procedures
  • Maintain employee records, manage payroll/timekeeping, approve PTO requests and address pay or benefit concerns
  • Navigate and utilize (QAD), MES (MODS), and Human Resources Systems (UKG)
  • Coach, mentor and onboard employees, fostering an inclusive, accountable team environment. Ensure training, progression documentation, PFC audits are completed accurately and on time
  • Promote workplace safety and housekeeping by reviewing incident reports, conduct investigations, and coordinating with support departments
  • Optimize workstation layouts for efficiency, ergonomics and tool availability
  • Drive continuous improvements by eliminating process variations and implementing improvements aligned with plant strategic objectives and mission center priorities
  • Participates in leadership forums, complete leadership development classes and maintain required training
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED
  • 2-5 years of experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and leadership skills; including conflict resolution and team building
  • Experience in coaching, training, and counseling employees
  • Knowledge of quality systems (ISO, TS16949, IATF, etc.)
  • High degree of initiative with the ability to work independently

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree with 1-2 + years of experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff
  • Knowledge of plastic properties and behavior under molding conditions and plastic injection molding equipment
  • Experience with process control, documentation, first piece approvals and quality
  • Ability to support technical team in activities including color and mold changes, writing deviations, and other processing tasks
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish or another language
