Job description

Job Title: LIMS Data Migration Specialist

Job Description

This role leads and executes Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data migration and configuration activities within a GMP-regulated laboratory environment. The specialist ensures accurate migration, validation, and configuration of laboratory master data, supports system implementation from early design through deployment, and partners closely with quality and project teams to achieve critical milestones for a high-profile, multi-year project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute LIMS data migration activities, including planning, extraction, transformation, loading, and verification of laboratory data.
  • Configure and validate LIMS tables, tests, specifications, and workflows to support laboratory operations and quality requirements.
  • Review and verify migrated laboratory data for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with laboratory workflows and documentation standards.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities by preparing test scenarios, executing tests, documenting results, and resolving issues.
  • Contribute to system verification efforts to ensure the LIMS environment meets regulatory, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and implementation documentation related to LIMS and data migration.
  • Partner with Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and project leadership to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of data migration, configuration, and validation issues within the LIMS environment.
  • Support implementation readiness activities leading up to launch, including data readiness checks, user preparation, and system validation tasks.
  • Collaborate with laboratory analysts and project team members to understand laboratory workflows and ensure the LIMS configuration supports operational needs.
  • Maintain strong documentation and data integrity practices in accordance with GMP requirements and internal quality standards.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biologics, veterinary pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated laboratory environments.
  • Previous LIMS implementation experience, including configuration, validation, or deployment activities (beyond end-user experience).
  • Hands-on experience performing data migration, configuration, validation, or implementation activities for laboratory systems.
  • Strong Excel skills, including use of formulas, data management, and data manipulation for large or complex datasets.
  • Understanding of laboratory workflows, specifications, testing, and documentation practices.
  • Working knowledge of GMP requirements and data integrity principles in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulated laboratory environment.
  • Experience supporting master data setup and system configuration in laboratory or quality systems.
  • Experience with laboratory system validation activities, including documentation and execution of validation protocols.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with QC, QA, and cross-functional project teams to meet project objectives.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting system implementation from early-stage design through deployment.
  • Familiarity with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes and system verification activities.
  • Ability to contribute to SOP development, work instructions, and implementation documentation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.
