Description

Position Overview

Reliable Electric and Lighting, Inc. is seeking experienced Traveling Commercial Lighting Technicians to lead large-scale interior and exterior lighting retrofit projects for national commercial retail clients. This role is ideal for a hands-on field leader with 5-10 years of commercial lighting retrofit experience who thrives in fast-paced, travel-based environments.


Key Responsibilities

- Field Leadership & Execution

- Lead and supervise traveling lighting crews on national retail retrofit projects

- Serve as on-site foreman and primary field contact

- Coordinate daily work plans, crew assignments, and workflow

- Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to company standards

- Perform quality control inspections throughout project execution


Technical Responsibilities

- Perform and oversee interior and exterior commercial lighting retrofits

- LED fixture upgrades, parking lot lighting, pole lights, wall packs, canopy lighting

- High-bay, low-bay, and emergency/egress lighting installations

- Read and interpret lighting plans, layouts, and specifications

- Troubleshoot electrical and lighting system issues

- Ensure compliance with NEC and applicable local codes


Safety & Compliance

- Enforce Reliable Electric and Lighting safety policies and procedures

- Conduct job safety briefings and ensure PPE usage

- Maintain OSHA and site-specific safety compliance

- Identify and mitigate job-site hazards


Travel & Client Interaction

- Extensive nationwide travel, often multi-week project runs

- Ability to work overnight hours in active retail environments

- Maintain professional communication with clients, store management, and project managers

- Represent Reliable Electric and Lighting with professionalism and integrity


Requirements

Required Qualifications

- 5-10 years of commercial lighting experience, primarily retail retrofits

- Prior experience as a Foreman or Lead Technician preferred

- Strong knowledge of interior and exterior lighting systems

- Proven leadership and crew management skills

- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and operate lifts and ladders


Preferred Qualifications

- Excellent understanding of Electricalย 

- Experience with national retail rollouts

- Familiarity with boom lifts, scissor lifts, and bucket trucks

- Experience with job reporting and time tracking
