Job Summary

Custodians are responsible for general housekeeping and sanitizing in various areas on campus including classrooms, offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and grounds.

Salary Range: $18.00

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Restroom and Shower room cleaning
  • Carpet Maintenance
  • Trash Removal
  • Dusting
  • Snow Removal
  • Operation of floor machine for refinishing or buffing of floors as needed
  • Wall Washing
  • Bleacher Setup
  • Changing of Light Bulbs
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Custodial experience in a school or multi-building office/commercial space preferred
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Essential Knowledge & Skills

  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with students, faculty and staff at all levels of the university
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and work well in a team environment
  • Be able to climb and work from ladders and lifts
  • Have the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis; up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Have the ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, squat, pulling, reaching and spend majority of shift on your feet
  • Observe safety guidelines and follows procedure established by the university
  • Be able to work nights and weekends if position requires it
  • Be able to work outside in the elements year-round

  • Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
