Job description

As Senior Environmental Project Manager, you will lead project teams or act as a project manager in the completion of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), petroleum leak investigations, construction monitoring/site cleanup projects, asbestos and regulated waste assessments, and additional regulatory compliance activities. In this role you will be intimately involved and knowledgeable regarding clients, industries and completion of work deliverables.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead investigation and remediation projects
  • Prepare and/or review scope of services, budgets, schedules, and final reports ensuring Quality Assurance/Quality Control measures are achieved
  • Demonstrate an understanding of environmental tasks involving a high level of complexity
  • Instruct, train and mentor team members while serving as a resource to the department/company
  • Effectively manage difficult situations and confrontation both internally and externally
  • Participate in and facilitate meetings with project stakeholders or clients
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication

  • May serve as a project or client manager and assist with and coordinate client management activities

  • May assist with business development and marketing strategy
  • May prepare forecast of workload for assigned staff and closely monitor backlog

Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in geology, engineering or an environmental-related field
  • 7+ years of relevant post education professional experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask and work well in a team environment
  • Must have an in depth understanding of Phase I and Phase II ESAs (ASTM standard and corridor/transportation modified versions), petroleum leak investigations, construction monitoring/site cleanup projects, and asbestos and regulated waste assessments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • Must ensure compliance with KLJ safety and quality standards
  • Willingness to travel on occasions and work flexible hours as needed

Additional Preferences:
  • Project management experience is preferred
  • Experience in the environmental consulting industry completing reports, documents, scope of services, assessments, and investigations.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota environmental regulations, including MPCA and MnDOT guidance documents.
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Minnesota Asbestos Inspector certification
  • Minnesota Asbestos Supervisor certification
  • P.G., P.E. in Minnesota and/or CHMM or ability to obtain
  • Previous experience using ArcGIS software

Hours and Travel
This position may require the individual to occasionally work 40+ hours per week with 70% of the time spent in the office and 30% in the field. Willingness to travel on occasion may be expected.
