Description

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of sewer lift stations.

Inspects, maintains and repairs wastewater lift stations to prevent sanitary sewer overflow and to maintain proper efficiencies.

Researches, locates and acquires parts and equipment as needed.

Changes motors; replaces motor wiring.

Maintains and inspects control panel box components.

Repairs pumps; cleans valves.

Cleans bar screens; replaces belts; greases bearings; maintains level controls.

Mows grass around station.

Performs related duties.

Requirements

Knowledge of wastewater collection system operation and maintenance principles.

Knowledge of lift station inspection, repair and maintenance principles.

Knowledge of the hazards inherent to sewer maintenance work and the safety measures used to mitigate those hazards.

Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the maintenance of lift station equipment.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.

Skill in the use of lift station maintenance tools and equipment.

Skill in the preparation required reports.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Wastewater Collection System Operator license.

Obtain and maintain a State of Georgia Water/Wastewater Plant Maintenance Technologist - Class III license.

Apply
