Job description

Lifeguard (Per Diem)
$20 per hour
The work involves periodically overseeing the safety and welfare of swimmers at the District Swimming Pool located in the Elementary School Building. 



 

Duties are performed under direct supervision. Lifeguards have considerable responsibility for the exercise of sound judgment in emergencies and must be constantly alert to assist swimmers in difficulty and to enforce safety rules. Lifeguards do related work as required.

 

Typical Work Activities include but are not limited to:
Stands watch at the pool;
Maintains order and enforces safety rules;
Goes to the aid of swimmers in difficulty;
Applies resuscitation techniques and administers first aid;
Keeps locker rooms, poolside free of glass and other debris.




 

Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: 
Strong knowledge of first aid, life-saving, and water rescue techniques;
ability to swim well;
ability to remain composed during emergency situations;
alertness and good powers of observation.



 

Minimum Qualifications (must be provided prior to approval):
Lifeguard Certification 
CPR and First Aid Certification
