Job description

Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Group Swimming Instructor is responsible for lesson planning that facilitates a positive and growth driven learning environment. The primary function of the Instructor will be to maintain a safe and organized instructional environment for class participants.
Key Responsibilities, in coordination and consultation with the Director/Asst. Director, include:
  • Embodying an outgoing and enthusiastic personality at all times.
  • Strong customer service while enforcing all policies and procedures.
  • Reporting to work in uniform a minimum of ten minutes prior to the assigned shift.
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly instructional environment for all participants.
  • Cleanliness of the pool area and instructional equipment.
  • Teaching age and skill appropriate swimming techniques utilizing hydrodynamic principles.
  • Assessing and reporting swim level of participants.

Qualities and Qualifications:
  • Age 16 or older.
  • Currently certified Lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid (preferred).
  • Currently certified Water Safety Instructor (preferred).
  • Being familiar with the facility Emergency Action Plan.
  • Participating in continuing education activities through both internal and external sessions to promote an on-going development of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for instructors.
  • Physical effort required for daily duties includes lifting heavy weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, and prolonged standing/walking.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 30+ pounds.

Salary: $30 – $35 per hour.
This is a part-time, in-person role, two to three days a week, with occasional evenings and holidays throughout the year.
