Position Summary
The Credentialing Associate is responsible for supporting the onboarding, licensing, appointment, and credentialing processes for insurance agents and agencies within a personal lines insurance distribution environment. This role ensures agents and agency entities meet carrier, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements to maintain active selling status across multiple insurance partners. The Credentialing Associate works closely with carriers, internal operations teams, compliance, and agency partners to manage credentialing documentation, licensing records, appointments, and ongoing maintenance activities accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and process agent and agency credentialing, onboarding, and appointment activities with insurance carriers.
Review and verify licensing, E&O insurance, background checks, certifications, and other required documentation for completeness and compliance.
Maintain accurate records in agency management, licensing, and credentialing systems.
Monitor license renewals, carrier appointments, certifications, and compliance deadlines to ensure uninterrupted selling authority.
Submit and track carrier appointment applications and related onboarding documentation.
Communicate with agents, agencies, carriers, and internal stakeholders regarding missing documentation, status updates, and credentialing requirements.
Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations, carrier guidelines, and internal policies.
Assist with audits and reporting activities related to licensing, appointments, and compliance.
Support onboarding activities for new franchise locations, agencies, or producers.
Identify and resolve credentialing discrepancies or delays proactively.
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive producer and company information.
Generate reports and maintain tracking metrics related to credentialing turnaround times and compliance status.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associates or Bachelors degree in business, insurance, finance, or related field preferred
Experience
13 years of insurance operations, licensing, credentialing, compliance, or administrative experience preferred
Experience in personal lines insurance, agency operations, or carrier appointment processing preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Knowledge of insurance licensing and carrier appointment processes
Familiarity with state insurance regulations and compliance requirements
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and agency management systems
Strong problem-solving and follow-through abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NIPR, Sircon, or state licensing systems
Knowledge of personal lines insurance products and distribution models
Experience supporting franchise or multi-location agency environments
Insurance license preferred but not required
Working Conditions

Standard business hours with occasional overtime during peak onboarding periods
