About the Role

Seeking a technically proficient and customer-focused Technical Sales Engineer to develop engineered solutions, comprehensive proposals, and accurate quotations for advanced CNC machine tools and automation systems in Schaumburg, IL.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Quotation Development: Build detailed, accurate technical proposals and cost estimates for CNC machining centers, turning centers, multi-axis machinery, and integrated automation systems.
  • Pre-Sales Engineering Support: Partner with Regional Sales Managers (RSMs), Key Account Managers, and distributor networks to evaluate customer manufacturing specifications and recommend optimal machine/option configurations.
  • Financial & Pricing Analysis: Maintain deep working knowledge of dealer net pricing, discounting structures, margins, and gross profit (GP) metrics to ensure commercial competitiveness and profitability.
  • Layout & Conceptual Design: Produce 2D machine layouts, floor plans, and conceptual installation drawings using AutoCAD and 3D CAD modeling software.
  • Process Standardization: Maintain and enhance standardized quote templates, option matrices, pricing calculators, and technical libraries to streamline quoting efficiency.
  • Dealer & Customer Technical Support: Conduct project-specific technical reviews, deliver presentations to dealer networks, and assist with option configurations and sales order audits.

  • Machine Tool Knowledge: Solid working familiarity with CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, 5-axis centers), cutting tool technologies, workholding systems, and automation solutions.
  • CAD Proficiency: Practical ability to develop technical floor layouts and conceptual equipment drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent 3D CAD platforms.
  • Commercial Acumen: Understanding of industrial sales pricing models, margins, cost estimating, and dealer distribution networks.
