Job description

Duties: The PT Clerical Assistant II operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the mission, vision and values of the Library and the City of Pasadena by performing the general tasks associated with circulation duties, basic reference assistance, shelving, shelf-reading and shifting library materials. Provides assistance at children's and teen customer service desks, answering questions in person, online and by telephone. Shelve books and processes hold requests for library customers. Assists library customers with use of on-line catalogs, databases and computers. Assists in promoting children's and teen collections through designing and constructing displays, signage and bookmarks. Provides reader's advisory to library customers. May assist with programming, collection development, weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.

Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required and valid Texas Driver's License. PREFERRED: An Associates or some college education preferred. Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable. Experience working with children a plus; bilingual in English and Spanish and American Red Cross first aid training a plus.
