ABOUT THE POSTION:
We are seeking a motivated Traffic Coordinator to become a key member of our business. The Traffic Coordinator schedules, assigns, and directs drivers and vehicles to transport steel/product and coordinates drivers according to customer requests in compliance with DOT regulations and company rules.

Responsibilities
  • Communicates with sales/customers to determine driver needs and schedules and notifies drivers of assignments; enters assignment data in computer database.
  • Monitors daily and promptly addresses critical safety issues and Maintenance issues.
  • Daily routing and route compliance of deliveries and pick-ups.
  • Monitors driver compliance regulations with DOT and Company policies (physically inspect equipment daily).
  • Assigns and directs drivers each day, maintain fleet equipment maintenance.
  • Screens drivers on daily basis utilizing AlertMeter to ensure they are reporting to work physically and mentally prepared for work; completes reasonable suspicion evaluation when necessary.
  • Adjusts schedule accordingly due to absenteeism, equipment breakdown, common carrier hiring
  • Negotiates rates, builds new carriers contacts with contract carriers and ensures their equipment meets DOT standards.
  • Maintains current MTR documentation library.
  • Supervises/assigns/routes equipment service providers when needed.
  • Monitors E-LOGS and DVIR's (current system JJ KELLER-Encompass) to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Sets up and coordinates all hot shots.
  • Maintains equipment maintenance/registration and internal driver qualification files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of prior fleet dispatch experience and must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a distribution center.
  • Familiarity with industrial services or distribution operations preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Proficiency in Spanish language a plus.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized individual with a commitment to consistent attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to assume additional responsibilities and accommodate customer requests.
  • Ability to work independently, often under pressure/situations within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to build business relationships and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience in flatbed operations and load securement a plus.
  • Experience with Roadnet software or other dispatching software a plus.
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of management.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work "off schedule" on occasion.
  • Knowledge of StelPlan a plus.
