Make a Difference in a Small-Town CommunityDo you love connecting people with resources, building relationships, and finding creative ways to bring the library into the community? Allen County Public Library is looking for a Librarian to serve the Monroeville community and help make the library a welcoming, relevant resource for people of all ages.This position offers the best of both worlds: you'll be an active member of the Monroeville Branch team, providing excellent day-to-day library service, while also developing outreach opportunities that connect the library with schools, organizations, businesses, community groups, and residents throughout the area.The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being out in the community, is comfortable working with children, teens, adults, and older adults, and can build genuine relationships with a wide variety of people. You'll have the opportunity to develop programs and partnerships based on the unique interests and needs of the Monroeville community.What You'll DoConnect with the CommunityPlan and provide outreach services and programs for people of all ages.Represent the library at community events and activities.Identify opportunities to introduce new audiences to library resources, services, programs, and collections.Create programs, classes, presentations, and activities that respond to community interests and needs.Serve Our PatronsProvide welcoming, knowledgeable customer service at the branch.Check materials in and out, register new library cards, maintain patron accounts, and assist with fines and fees.Help patrons find books, information, technology, and other library resources.Provide reader's advisory and reference assistance.Help patrons use computers, mobile devices, wireless connections, printing, software, and online library resources.Teach patrons how to search for information and make effective use of digital tools and technology.Explain and consistently enforce library policies and procedures.Be Part of the Branch TeamWork regular shifts at the Monroeville Branch, including service desk and other branch responsibilities.Assist with programs, events, tours, displays, and room setup and takedown.Help maintain branch collections, inventory, supplies, and displays.Monitor the library and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.May serve as the person in charge when the Senior Librarian or Manager is not in the building.Work collaboratively with colleagues across the library system.Perform other duties as assigned.What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who is:Community-minded and excited about building relationships in a small-town setting.Approachable and adaptable, with the ability to connect with people from young children through older adults.Creative and proactive, with ideas for programs, partnerships, and outreach.Comfortable working independently while also being an engaged member of a team.Technology-friendly and able to help patrons navigate changing technology and digital resources.A strong communicator who can present information comfortably to both individuals and groups.Patient, tactful, and service-oriented, especially when working with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.Willing to pitch in with the everyday work of a small, busy branch.QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years of library operations experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Indiana Public Librarian Certification.Valid driver's license.Knowledge of library services, collections, policies, and procedures.Ability to plan, develop, and implement programs and outreach services.Ability to use library technology, automated library systems, online resources, and standard office equipment.Ability to communicate effectively, maintain patron confidentiality, and exercise sound judgment.Why Allen County Public Library?At Allen County Public Library, we believe libraries are about more than books-they are about people, connections, learning, and belonging.
